What's Happening in Second Grade for the next two weeks...
In reading we are studying main idea and supporting details. Students are looking at Nonfiction texts and finding what is important. As your child reads at night, please ask him or her to identify the theme (fiction) or main idea (nonfiction).
Our writing unit is Poetry. We are writing poems with and without rhyming words. We are using rhythm and descriptive words. After poetry we will be writing biographies.
Our newest math unit is Number Sense. We are estimating sums and differences, problem solving, solving two-digit addition and subtraction facts, and using 3-digit place value. Please review basic facts at home.
